I think that is true. don't know the york campus that well I must admit.
One of the lakes at warwick is still quite new as well so I expect it takes time for an ecology to settle into it. But no the overwhelming impression of Warwick is not Ducks.
When I was there Shopping Trolleys seemed to be the things you had to look out for as they tended to lurk round corners and in the night arrange themselves into strange structures...
