So, after getting thoroughly fed up with LJ being down at exactly the time I wanted to have a good old rant, I have set up an account on Dreamwidth. Of course, the massive irony being I had to wait until LJ was back up and running in order to import my journal entries!

Still, I think I shall use Dreamwidth for my personal rantings from now on, but cross post to LJ so those folks still hiding over there can see it. That is, if anyone still bothers with LJ anymore besides me,[personal profile] violetnights and[personal profile] rhube! So, if you are on my LJ f-list, and have a DW account, come find me and add me over here!

So yesterday was the first day in our new office. Which meant Friday was a free afternoon off, as we closed up shop at 12 and left as soon as the packing was done.

Jamie and I went to see Toy Story 3 that afternoon. What an amazing movie! Some real funny bits, but plenty of emotion too. It has us in tears. And afterward, when we left the cinema, in order to make myself feel better when I got home, I had to rush upstairs and dig out my old grey rabbit from my toy box, and sat cuddling her for about half an hour on the sofa.

The weekend was quiet, as Jamie had the renewal plot meeting, so I mostly pottered and did housework on Saturday, and Sunday we managed a brief trip to the shops, but otherwise did little.

Yesterday would have been a lot easier if I hadn't been kept awake till the wee hours by neighbours playing crazy loud music, and then getting woken up by same neighbour having a loud shouted conversation at 6am. Getting the train to work doesn't mean waking up any earlier for me, just less snoozing to the alarm as I have to leave the house 15 mins earlier than before. Cycling to the station cuts out a lot of hassle! And then it's a 25 min train ride to Basingstoke, plus about a 7 min walk the other side. I am always going to be late for work, because the train I get doesn't arrive in B till 9.03! And I have to leave dead on half 5 to catch the train home.

New office is nice, smaller than our old one but better laid out and somehow we have more space. But I'm still sat too far away from the girls to be involved in most of the chatter, as I'm stuck in the corner with the rest of Finance, and over time I've come to realise I don't like the other woman in Finance at all, so she's no fun to talk to.

We shall see how long it is before I'm utterly fed up of it.

Ok so doing this on iPhone so have to be brief. Went to caro's, went to Ed & kathy's to make banners, drank booze, didn't go clubbing, had lots of gossip, and giggling over caro finding rudeness in perfectly innocent remarks. Loki cuddles, and Puck cuddles, and even Tia cuddles, which was lovely. When I got home, Jamie was utterly broken and spent most of the afternoon and evening snoozing, so just pottered and watched tv.

Gym tonight, and sensible foods to be eaten. I'm still really pissed off with the whole maxi dress thing, I may write and complain. J has offered to take me dress shopping this weekend to try and find an alternative. And in addition a pair of shorts I ordered from next were too small in a size 12, even though the three trousers I bought all fitted perfectly. Stupid clothes sizing!

Work is still dull, it's month end but I won't be busy until at least the end of the week. And we move offices this weekend as well. Need to sort out train ticket as well.

So last night J and I popped round to see the Moores for "tea and cake". Amonst many pleasant discussions, we got involved in a rather protracted argument about the nature of cake. For Dave had gone out and bought a cheesecake, a fact which both Tamsin and I were a little confused about, since we would classify it as a dessert, and would expect something more traditional like a Victoria sponge, if we were having tea and cake.[Poll #1598802]

When I was walking home from work today, I saw something rather unusual. A snake, swimming in the canal!
snake! )

I've had a nose around online, and I reckon it was a grass snake.

It was just swimming along, and then when it saw me watching it, it stopped and just floated, completely still, until it decided I wasn't a threat and kept on swimming. I saw it disturb a coot and her young, but from what I've read they only eat amphibians and sometimes fish, so I doubt it would try to eat the coot babies.

I love having this little slice of nature right behind my house. It's awesome.

Hurrah!

The contractor, Dave, came round this morning. 8am sharp. They've put a radiator in my toilet, and a new loft access hatch at the top of the stairs.

Bonsoir from the French coast! Finally made it after 12 long weeks of swimming. If I never set foot in a swimming pool again it will be too soon!

At least I don't have to put up with paralympic turn guy any more :-)

http://www.irb.com/rankings/news/newsid=2034500.html#wales+rise+sixth+world

Hah! We're creeping back up the table!

IRB World Rankings - 23 November 2009
Position (last week)Member UnionRating Point
1(1)NZLNEW ZEALAND90.88
2(2)RSASOUTH AFRICA89.97
3(3)AUSAUSTRALIA83.98
4(4)FRAFRANCE83.20
5(5)IREIRELAND83.20
6(8) WALWALES81.46
7(6) ENGENGLAND80.72
8(7) ARGARGENTINA79.42
9(9)SCOSCOTLAND77.72
10(10)FJIFIJI75.69

Thanks to Scotland beating Australia, we're in a position now where if Wales beat Australia by more than 15 points (a big ask, but still...) they will drop below us in the rankings! We'd not likely go above France or Ireland though, so we'll all bump up one and Australia will plummet from 3rd to 6th!

Plus it's nice to be above England.
