responses to Ros' interview questions
Apr. 3rd, 2005 06:28 pmapologies for being so crap at getting these done, but i've been in work and drinking and stuff.
1. If you suddenly came into a lot of money (and we're talking life-changing sums here, say, £5 million), what would you do with it?
Pay off all my debt. Give loads to my parents to pay off their mortgage and stuff. Go on a much deserved holiday. Have an outrageously big and expensive wedding. Buy a nice house and fill it with lovely things. Invest the rest wisely.
2. What would you most like to achieve this year and why?
I would like for my application in September to Chester Uni to be successful, so I can train to teach next year. Thats the biggie. I'd also like to be able to acheive the salon look I got when I had my hair cut again, but at home with sensibly priced products. But that ones not so important.
3. Which three songs do you feel the most connection to and why?
Hmm tough question for me as I connect with music very emotionally, so most songs I know have a strong connection to something. But the three songs I feel the most for would have to be (in no particular order):
a) Chopin - Nocturne Op.72 No.1 This is important to me because its the reason I play the piano now. I always remember sitting by the piano at home listening (and marvelling) at my mother playing it, and always asking her to play this piece because its so beautiful. And when I started learning my goal was to get so good I could play it too. I remember the day when my mum came in to the room where I was playing after I'd just finished playing this piece, and she said "you can play that better than I can!". when I went to uni I stopped playing as much, and now I cant quite play it again yet, so i'm aiming for it once again.
b) Incubus - Wish You Were Here This song is the song I connect to most with my relationship with Beav. At first, it was a song I couldnt listen to without getting really upset, because of the Beav/Gemma thing and something he once said to her fairly early on in our relationship. Then, years later, after we'd had a massive massive discussion about the Beav/Gemma thing and I was totally convinced by Beav that it was, and always had been, me he wanted, I listened to this song and for the first time I smiled and didnt cry. Then he took me to see them play live for my 21st birthday, and when they played this song the back of the stage lit up like stars. It was beautiful.
c) Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah Odd that an atheist would connect so well to a hymn. But this is the hymn we played at my Gaga's funeral (and subsequently at Nana's, where all it did was remind me of Gaga's funeral three months previously). Had it just been that it was the hymn from the funeral, I probably wouldn't connect to it that much. But two weeks after my Gaga died my father and I went to the Millenium Stadium to see Wales play South Africa. I dont know how many people fit into the stadium, but the sound of every single one of them roaring out this hymn moved me so much I was in tears. I'll never forget that moment.
4. If you were not with Beaver, what would you be doing with your life?
Well I wouldnt be in Chester for one thing. I'd probably be in York, studying to do my PGCE (secondary), living in a house with random people, drinking far too much. I'd probably not be in a relationship at all, just having lots of fun with my friends.
5. Which three personality traits do you value the highest and why? (honesty, friendliness, etc)
Honesty is definately important. I dont think friendships or relationships can work without it. (Hence why I owned up to breaking Matt's car instead of sneaking off, and probably hence why Matt doesnt hate me)
I think open-mindedness is a good trait for people to have. Being open to debate and new ideas, and not stuck in a hole with your fingers in your ears going LaLaLaLaLa whenever a new idea is suggested.
A third one is tricky to think of. a Sense of Fun, possibly. otherwise we'd all be boring gits
