Feb. 20th, 2005 07:05 pmWell for once I have something more interesting to post about!
Yesterday evening with my parents was very pleasant. They cooked wonderful food, we drank much red wine (5 bottles, between the three of us, and the last bottle my mother didnt have any of), and we talked for hours on many subjects. We discussed buying cars, our wedding, jobs, the future. It was lovely. I had masses of time just to be with my parents. We watched bad films on Sky (James Cameron's "The Abyss") and much bad TV, and once we were rather drunk I managed to have a beautiful conversation with my father during which we reinforced to each other how much we mean to each other, and I realised once again that my father is possibly the most important person in the whole of my life (although, he adamantly refused to be the most important person to me, he said he was perfectly happy to be 2nd, because he understands how much Beav means to me now). we shared happy memories, and some sad ones, when we talked of his parents. I am now wearing my Nana's eternity ring, I'd forgotten just how beautiful it really is. Sapphires and diamonds (i'm going to get the stones checked out tomorrow to make certain they are diamonds), set in platinum, with an 18ct yellow gold shank. Its a little big for me, so I'm going to have to decide where I want to wear it and get it made a bit smaller.
This morning was mostly trying to feel human again, I always get really bad hangovers when I drink lots of wine. I cured it with orange juice and a very refreshing shower. My parents spent the morning packing for their trip, then we went to Tesco so they could buy me food for the week. They left after lunch, at around half one. Since then I have been mainly sitting in my front room, on Mum's big comfy leather recliner, watching films on Sky. And the whole time, I've had either Rosie or Katie curled up on my knee.
I had forgotten what wonderful companions cats are. I had thought I might feel lonely here by myself, but I will never be alone because Rosie, Katie and Mitzi will be here all the time. They don't range from the house much now because they are old (Mitz is 14 in April, Rosie is 11 in April and Katie is 11 in October), so they're generally always around. Mitz spends all her time curled up on my bed, whereas Rosie is constantly there on my knee, every time I sit down. She even came to sit on the desk next to the computer, but I think she's gone to eat something now. You can see two of them at www.tinksworld.org/cats.html
Tomorrow I will be mostly meeting up with Catherine, my best friend from school. I havent seen her in nearly 2 years, so it will be interesting to see how much has changed. While we were in Tesco we ran into Sylvia Roberts and her daughter Clare (mother and sister of another of my good school friends Carol) so I had a quick chat to her. Carol is living with her boyfriend in the Rhondda, still training to be a nurse. She appears to be having a wonderful time. We lost contact, because we kept changing phone numbers, so I gave Sylvia my mobile number to give to Carol. So I expect I shall be hearing from her soon.
I'm looking forward to seeing the town tomorrow. I havent been here properly for nearly 2 years (not last easter, but the easter before that). I wonder how different it is.
