Feb. 4th, 2008 02:12 pm Checked the IRB's world rankings today - Wales have jumped from 10th to 8th, and England have dropped from 4th to 5th.
Hahahahahahaha.
Scotland unfortunately have dropped to 10th, but given their poor performance I think we deserve to have switched places.
In other news, for le Rygbi is not the only thing going on right now in my world...

I
lost more weight. Apparently. Can't say I expected to this week, for on Saturday I ate nothing but carbs (and lots of them!) for there were home-made scones, and I had no lunch, just ate scones. and then Jamie took me out for dinner to celebrate the rugby win, and I ate cheesey garlic bread and pizza. And was oh-so-bloated and felt like rubbish all night and all day Sunday. Didn't go swimming. Still felt poo, and then had pizza and scones again for food!
Yet the weight is steadily dropping, which means eating relatively properly and exercising regularly really is the way to go if weight loss is the aim. Am yet to see a significant reduction in the more important statistics (waist/hips), but that may well be down to me being so bloated and horrible yesterday. Will have another look at it next week and see if its making a difference.
I've been keeping a food diary since 1st January, to encourage me to eat more of the right stuff and less of the bad stuff, because its not a private diary (by which I mean Jamie is more than welcome to look in it, and I would be embarrassed if he found it was full of me snacking on cake and chocolate all day in work).
At this point I would like to stress to anyone who is likely to moan at me - I AM NOT ON A DIET. I am merely attempting to live in a more health-concious fashion.
This means I have not banned myself from eating cake, chocolate, sweets, crisps, fizzy drinks, anything like that. I am just trying to reduce the amount I eat.
Anyway. My point. I thought I'd been doing really well. A month had gone by, so I sat down and reviewed my diary so far. On each page, I highlighted on the top whether or not the day's intake had contained chocolate/sweets, alcohol or caffeine. Flicking through, I can see very few days containing none of these items!
So its not perfect. But, where I have eaten chocolate/sweets, its been a couple of mini eggs or a couple of squares of chocolate from a bigger bar, rather than two packets of mini eggs and a huge bar of galaxy. Similar. my fizzy drink intake has reduced from faar too much, to maybe one can of coke zero a week, which I've only had on account of the caffeine and the need to be awake/not have a headache.
I've found I'm less inclined to gorge myself on chocolate now than I was. Which can only be a good thing. I'm eating far more in the way of fresh food (even in work, as I'm roasting a chicken at the weekend and using the meat to feed me all week in salads and the like), and far less processed rubbish. And I feel so much better.
Will probably be a good few months before it has the required impact, but its definately been a good start.

A. Who on earth would moan at you?
B. What's YOUR definition of a diet then? :-)
I have the same thing with white-flour-based products - there's something highly addictive in them! Thye more you eat, the worse you feel, yet the more of them you want to eat.
I shall do healthy food at the weekend - is squash ok to drink or would you like me to get some fresh juice in?

Date: 2008-02-05 10:01 am (UTC)B. What I meant was I'm not on a faddy diet out of a magazine/newspaper. Its a genuine change of lifestyle, rather than a crash course of shakes and unpalatable "healthy" snacks rammed with MSG. Which means the occasional "bad" meal isnt a cause for a major waily and feelings of failure, just something I can do every now and again without feeling guilty.
Squash is fine :-)

Date: 2008-02-05 05:19 pm (UTC)that is the (main) difference between white flour and wholemeal flour, easily absorbed by body leading to sugar rush followed by inevitable insulin release and sugar crash.
feeling tired makes your body yearn out for more sugar, causing it to happen again.....and again...
same with white bread vs wholemeal, though you have bread rarely i seem to remember.
