i hate call centres
just phoned powergen to complain that they still havent combined my gas and electricity bills so it all gets paid off by the one direct debit (when we moved in i set up the DD and was told it would pay off both, but was only set up on the electricity). so every few months they sent a bill for teh gas (about £15 max, even though we cook with it all the time and have gas central heating!) which i always forgot to pay off. even though the electricity account was hugely in credit (and still is, by over £100)
so upon receipt of another letter about an unpaid gas bill today, i rang them up to complain, as i have been trying for the last few months to combine my bills using the "one bill" button on the website. so i rang them up, it turned out the call centre was in India, so i had a nice rant at the woman in India (which I feel a bit guilty about, but it made me feel better) and she claims to have combined my bills now, and transferred the debit balance of my gas into the credit balance of the elecky, so its all paid for and everything. she tried to get me to increase my direct debit, to which my response was "but my account is in credit by £130 thats a stupid idea" in fact i may even decrease it again, thinking about it.
then she puts me on hold while she does the whole playing with the computer thing, which i didnt mind, until the hold music kicked in. a woman saying "please hold teh line" over and over and over again. with silence inbetween. i'm surprised i remained so calm when the Indian advisor came back on the line to try and sell me central heating insurance, and I managed a very polite "no its ok, we dont own the property!" rather than telling her to fuck off. which is how i felt. :-)
