Right, well its been some time since I last looked at LJ, so I just spent a pleasant half an hour catching up with folks, so before I start rambling on about the last week and a half, I would like to say:

[profile] blackfaery - hope you find your cat soon!
[profile] mouthymetaller - congratulations!!!!!

Right then, lets see. whats happened to me in the last however long its been..

Well, house is a mess. We have phone line again now, but no internet as of yet. I have ordered it this morning though, so give me a couple of weeks and everything will be back to normal. Have huge piles of stuff to sort out, but it shouldnt take too long. I'm being mildly delayed by the fact that a) Tesco claim to have delivered my new shed, even though there is definately no shed, and b) i dont have the legs for my metal shelves, so can't sort out the front room properly, as thats where the telly and all the consoles and board games are going.

Should be able to get the kitchen and bedroom straightened up by the weekend though, which will be nice.

So, lets see. The weekend before last was Tom's birthday, and he had a fancy dress party. Jamie, Dave Young and I drove down to St Albans in a hired transit van, and proceeded to get merrily sloshed and stayed up till about 3am or something. I went as Betty Rubble from the Flintstones, Dave Y was a generic GI Joe stylee bloke, and J went as the guy from Final Fantasy, with an enormous sword made out of cardboard and gaffa tape. It was very very silly, and I do have pictures, however the aforementioned lack of home internet means I cannot post them at this time.

The day after the party, the three of us drove up to Nottingham in the van, to go to Anchor Supplies and buy stuff! Ammo crates etc for LRP, would have got table/benches but they didnt have any decent cheap ones. We then drove back to Reading, and it was all cool.

Sunday of that weekend, Jamie and I drove the van to my parents house. It was great to see Daddy again. Both parents are now losing weight, Daddy's bought himself a bike and is doing loads of exercise and stuff. Its really cool. We loaded up the van with all my stuff, and then headed back to Reading.

All in all, a very tiring weekend, but very productive.

Monday was a day of packing and sorting, as we had to get all the Regiment kit packed for Fayre, as well as pack for our holiday and organise the stuff we'd brought back from Wales! I spent the day tidying up and making space, and then when Jamie came home from work we packed everything. There is so much less kit now than there was before, its awesome.

Then on Tuesday, we got up nice and early, and went to Rome! My holiday was absolutely amazing. 100% awesome. Our flight was delayed by an hour or so on the way out there, but other than that there was no problem. Finding the hotel from the train station in central Rome was easy, as it was right next to the Vatican. The hotel itself was a 15th Century palace built by one of the Cardinals, later used by the order that was set up to take confession from the foreign pilgrims. 4 stars, total luxury. And as I said, a stone's throw from the Vatican. Literally, you walked out the front door of the hotel, and 100 yards down the road was St Peter's Square. It was absolutely breathtaking. Castel Sant Angelo was just down the road too, which was almost as amazing as the Vatican.

Tuesday evening we just wandered round a bit, found a restaurant and had pizza. The pizza's were awesome, the wine and food were both really really cheap. And it was so hot!

Wednesday we wandered across the city, to see the Roman ruins in the south of the city. The temples, the forums, Nero's Palace, and of course the Colosseum. We went into the arena, and had a wander round. It was amazing. I took loads of pics which will be uploaded when I get net access back. After a brief siesta in the afternoon, we wandered back into Rome and had a huge meal to celebrate our anniversary (which of course is why we were there). We had the most beautiful sea bass dish ever, it was gorgeous. And a litre of wine which only cost us six euros...

Thursday (our actual anniversary) was spent doing more wandering. We saw several other awesome things, including the Pantheon, which completely took my breath away, because you totally don't expect to see it when you walk into the Piazza. Another evening, another restaurant, another gorgeous (and cheap) pizza.

Friday morning we had to leave early, as our flight was at 9.30. The trip back was relatively uneventful, although the plane was more than a little wobbly, and looked like it was being held together with gaffa tape. We got back to the house at about 1pm.

All in all it was an awesome holiday, and just what both of us needed. It was blisteringly hot out there (40 degrees on average), but I didnt get sunburn, and although my feet were hurting from all the walking, complete with blisters, it was so relaxing. Can't wait to go on holiday again!

Dave Y was already at the house, having been given a spare key, and as we read our big pile of mail and sorted stuff out, Adrian and Lucy arrived, followed by the delivery of the hire van.

We helped load the van, then jumped in my car. Drove to Bristol, via the other side of Reading to pick up our passenger. The drive down was ok, except it was blisteringly hot in the car and we hit rush hour by Bath/Bristol.

Got to the site, dashed straight off again with Pete to go to Tesco and buy all the food. By the time we got back, the tent was up and stuff, so all I had to do was a bit of tent dressing.

The event itself was awesome, hot, but lots and lots of fun. The archery contest was particularly entertaining, and I came very close to beating the Regiment Marksman, which was cool. I did manage to fire off 17 arrows in a minute, which was pretty impressive.

I continue to be highly entertained by being in the Regiment, there's so much to do and its always so much fun. I successfully made lots of cash at poker, and even managed to prove I'm not a wimp by chopping firewood in a very manly fashion and downing a bottle of Jim Bean and coke (although I did throw up shortly after that, as I dont do whisky).

Lions faction stuff is cool too, plot wise and things, and I'm really looking forward to Renewal.

Only downer on the event was locking the car keys in the van, and having to call out Brittania Rescue to take us home. But it was ok really, as we got home about the same time we would have done anyway, and neither J or me had to drive, or use any petrol up. So that was cool.

Well then, that kinda leads up to today.

Yesterday was mostly spent sitting around doing very little, as our brains ceased to function. J is back in work today, and I go back tomorrow. After 2 weeks off, its going to be very strange, but I'm looking forward to it now.

Right I'm getting out of here cos this is expensive, and its taken me ages to write this up!
