ok to those who dislike LRP, I apologise for going on for so long! so i've hidden it behind a cut.

for a start, it only took us 45 minutes to get to the event. which was great! I didn't realise Wigan was so close to us. absolutely nothing on the road the whole way!
so we got there, and put up our tent. Our OOC camp was MILES away from the IC area, seriously, we were walking all the way over to the very boundary of the site. it was ridiculous. but we found some trees to pitch under, as rain was forecast.
The rain wasnt as bad as it was a couple of years ago when it rained constantly for the entire event, but it was bad enough to turn the ground to a complete swamp. the problem with that site is the water table is too high, so even a little rain makes it muddy. and of course when you have six hundred people walking over and fighting around the place, the mud gets churned up fairly quickly.
the event itself, well plot-wise it wasnt as heavy as normal, everything was centred around the two battles which were a) go into the blood prison and get the edas metal, then b) go kill the blood queen with the newly forged sword. this in itself was hugely deadly, and about 180 characters died in the battles. The blood queen died (finally).
My event wasnt as great as it could have been. Everything was going ok for me until the Sunday battle. Monstering the Saturday battle was really cool, we took our bows and spent the whole time as archer rats. four of us held two entire factions in one spot for at least half an hour if not longer. It was ace. for the Sunday battle, one of the really cool things, was that the rats appear to be trying very hard to kill me and Knox, they were chanting his name on the battlefield and throwing everything they could at us when they saw us. I was charged down by 4 rat ogres at one point, because i appeared at the end of the battleline and one of the rat 'generals' saw me. this in itself is cool, however it swiftly becomes a case of not being allowed out of camp ANYWHERE, even with masses of guards. Which meant after the battle on Saturday I was locked in the Jhereg camp and nothing happened. So I got very bored.
It was probably for the best though, as I had to leave the battlefield early due to injury. Got smacked on the head really really hard with a sword, and ended up with concussion. The bloke who did it was very apologetic and i'm not blaming him for anything, but every time i saw him after that he was going "look I'm really sorry about that" he looked like he felt really guilty, bless him. Andy and Helen were fantastic at getting me out of the fight and making sure I was ok, and the paramedics were lovely too. So I spent most of sunday and today with a headache, and for most of sunday I was very kind of spaced out and not really with it.
This morning I stayed in bed and slept till 2.30pm, which was fantastic for me, as I was aching all over and my head was still funny. but it did mean i missed the Jhereg and the Wolves stomping on the Fir Cruthen and stealing their faction commanders and taking them hostage.
Total injuries for the event - well theres the concussion, i have an annoying bit on the back of my right heel where my boots were rubbing on where my shoes for work had been rubbing, i have a painful bit on the back of my right knee where i scratched it too much, my leg muscles are refusing to work properly, and i have a nice bruise on my left arm from all the archery in Saturday's battle.
it only took us an hour to get home once we actually left site, despite an accident on the M6 which was causing delays. yay.

in short, stuff was cool, and stuff was not cool at the same time. and being injured at an event sucks.
