Have just got back in from my work xmas briefing (albeit slightly worse for wear and unable to type properly)

Had a nice day off, bought some new DVDs (inc Peter Pan [the newest version] , Ghostbusters and The Truman Show) and got a new Tink t-shirt from New Look. Spent the afternoon watching films (Truman Show and The Nightmare Before Xmas) then pottered into work for the briefing.

Spent half an hour chatting in the staff room eating take-out pizza, watched the Store Managers Conference video, was jollied along by my manager with talk of Xmas bonus and other such things, which wasnt so bad. Had lots of jokes at the manager's expense, and the weekend supervisor's too, since he can be quite disagreeable at times. It was Rachel's birthday today, so there was card- and present-giving, also cake and singing of happy birthday. She was really chuffed.

Afterwards, we went for a drink at the pub round the corner, a very small, very 'local' pub, where the staff were exceedingly friendly and courteous, we got a free bottle of champagne for Rachel and table service for drinks, and priority on the Karaoke. We were determined to get Rachel to sing, as she's always singing and dancing in work, but she wasnt sure, because she isnt particularly talented (by her own admission). But we got the song list out all the same, and persuaded her to duet with me along to Whitney Housten and Mariah Carey's version of "When You Believe" from The Prince of Egypt (this being one of the songs we are prone to singing when its quiet in work). It was a right laugh, we got wolf whistles from all the bar staff, and we have now decided to make that bar our pub of choice for after-work-drinkies. For most of the staff this is awkward, as they dont live in Chester, but its perfect for Rachel, Kathy and myself as wer're all close to the town centre.

Left the pub around half-nine, so I'd be able to make it back to meet Beaver at the roundabout on his way home from work, and have a pleasant 10 minute walk along the river before we came in a and collapsed.

I'm starting to feel the effects of mixing double vodkas and champagne, and this angle of typing is making my wrists hurt, so I shall bid you adieu
