Well the event kind of sneaked up on me so I wasnt all that prepared for it, mentally or with regard to the packing etc. So most of the packing was done in a crazy rush, and we left later than i'd have liked, got stuck in traffic cos of accidents etc, and arrived on site an hour before time in!
I wasnt sure how well it was going to go, and by Saturday morning I was ready to pack my car up and go home. Simply because I was that bored. The problem with having a character with purely downtime skills means that the sum total useful things I have to do during time in are.. find a job for the next downtime period... make sure i've been paid anything I am owed... and thats about it. it doestn take very long.
Fortunately, we discovered a thing called "secondary characters". So I can turn up to the event as Josiah, organise my buildings etc, then go and get changed and bring out Mademoiselle Mi-Mi Lafleur, and piss about in the Millen camp getting outrageously drunk on red wine..
I am, however, less convinced of this as a fun idea, now that Mark's character is dead and he has left the group. As there are now fewer people in Millen that I know OC, which means I have to be far more careful around them. I guess we shall have to see. If it turns out to be less fun (or bad for my health), I can always join the Pietkrieg and tote a musket for a while... Or even wench behind the bar.
I don't think I could give up entirely on Maelstrom though, as LRP events are currently the only way I have of actually seeing any of my friends, since we kind of live all the way out here away from everyone. So the more events the better.
Speaking of which, the Wolves are holding their first faction event next month, fully sanctioned, should be a laugh, so will check about getting the weekend off with work, and if I can, I'll book that.
