a major decision was reached today...
Sep. 7th, 2004 09:37 pmI am no longer a vegetarian. It is now official. I broke my meat-free habits with a gorgeous chicken pasta salad thing I cooked for myself this evening. It was divine. Its been a while since I last made that much of an effort to cook food for myself, and I think it was made doubly enjoyable by cooking a meal I have never once cooked before (a recipe of my mothers, modified to include some more vegetables). Although I now have lots of chicken in my fridge (which I will have difficulty getting Beaver to cook for himself as he hates the feel of raw chicken) and half a tub of creme fraiche. And half a courgette.. cooking for one person is extremely annoying at times.
I would like to extend my sincere gratidute (and also apologies) to all those in my life who have gone the extra mile to accomodate my dietary predjudices. Firstly my parents, for allowing me to make the decision and supporting it (With a variety of healthy and tasty home cooked delights.. thankyou mum), my Aunty Margaret and Granny for being so accommodating when I visite, all of my friends who have ever had to cater for me (especially Caro, as she is one of the few people I remember having to try hard in order to feed me on more than one occasion) and of course especially to Beav, for coping so well with the lack of meat in his diet (it must have been a terrible strain, not having meat in your meals 3 times a day every day... I dont know how you survived) and for being so inventive in the kitchen in order to keep me alive.
Although I'm still not going to eat bacon
