Right this is probably going to be quite longwinded, as I got up to lots of stuff this weekend! But I shall try and keep it relatively brief.

Friday:

Got up early on Friday to finish packing and to straighten my hair for the wedding. I love my straighteners! I've never been able to get my hair salon-straight before, and its always resisted any attempts to prevent frizz. However, I've discovered the joy of John Frieda's Straightening potion, and my straighteners. No frizz, poker straight hair, felt just like I'd walked out of the hairdressers. Best of all, I didn't need to restraighten it when I got to Ross-on-Wye, as it behaved itself all day!

The drive to Ross was pleasant, Jamie drove and it was pretty as we avoided lots of motorway and stuff. Got to Ross in plenty of time, checked into the hotel and had lunch in the Beefeater. Gammon steak (mmmmm). Then a quick change and make-up session, followed by an even prettier (although mildly dangerous) drive through the Forest of Dean to get to Clearwell Castle for the wedding. This involved tiny windy roads, very steep hills, and precarious metal bridges over a flooded and very fast-flowing river. Was very relieved when we arrived!

Clearwell Castle is beautiful! An excellent choice as a wedding venue, I must say. I shall be brief regarding the wedding itself. Tash looked lovely, her dress was fantastic, Andy was suitably nervous and entertaining before the ceremony. The bridesmaids looked great, the ceremony was very nice, food was good, had loads of fun sat with Pretty Boy, Fat Goth, Varna, Helen $, Drew and Jen. Party afterwards was also fun, with many laughs had with Hodgy and the St Albans boys. Drew and Hodgy in particular were very entertaining dancers!

We left at about 11ish, as we were both getting tired and had a fairly long drive back to the hotel. I was driving, so had hardly drunk at all during the day (a glass of bucks fizz, a glass of wine and a glass of champagne were all), whereas Jamie had drunk loads. Although, he wasnt drunk, which was a good thing.

Got back to the hotel, where I had a fabulous nights sleep. The bed was so soft and comfy, it was great.

Saturday:

Got up to have a shower in time for breakfast, so didn't get much of a lie in really. Breakfast was good, Beefeater again, this time a full english (although mine was only half-full, as no bacon or tomatoes!). Jamie discovered a new taste sensation - apparently toast, marmite and beans goes together very well (I don't  believe him, as Marmite is evil). Didn't see much point in hanging around the hotel, so we jumped in the car and drove down to Llanelli.

Was going to go the very pretty heads-of-the-valleys route, however warning signs told us there were delays on that road, so we dropped down to Newport and went along the M4. When we got to Port Talbot, we realised why the heads-of-the-valleys must be busy - they'd closed 2 junctions of the M4 going eastbound (fortunately, in the opposite direction) as there'd been a nasty crash (I've since read on the BBC that 3 people are in hospital with serious injuries as a result of the accident) - a Renault Laguna had gone up the arse of a street cleaning vehicle in the hard shoulder - they had to cut 2 of the casualties out of the car. By the time we got there all that was left was a couple of policemen guarding the wreckage, but the tailback went back for miles!

We got to Llanelli quite early, so we had a wander round the enormous Tesco and a couple of other shops, before attempting to find the stadium. Stradey Park is very difficult to find, if you don't know where you're going! And its a complete sh*thole. We desperately need a new stadium! Still, the game was awesome, and we won, which was fabulous. There was a great atmosphere in the crowd, and everyone was in a good mood. So that was cool.

Although I have to say I cant see why the local residents want to keep the stadium right behind their houses - the amount of traffic going through those horrid little narrow streets, combined with nearly 10 thousand people wandering about - you'd think they'd be glad to see it go. I mean, 450 houses aren't going to create nearly as much disruption as 10,000 fans flooding in and out of a stadium once or twice a week!

I also managed to acquire myself another Scarlets top, this time a red and white sweater with Scarlets written across the front, its very girly and I like it!

After the game we drove back through Llanelli (where there was much queueing in post-game traffic) and over to Loughor, where Jamie's folks live. After an hour or so of catching up and chilling out with his parents and older brother Stuart, we got changed and headed out with the family for dinner.

First Christmas Dinner of the year! A three course meal in a local pub, complete with complimentary bottle of champers, and mince pies! Met Jamie's other brother Martin, and his wife Felicity for the first time, which was nice. Food was good, had turkey dinner, complete with pigs in blankets!!

Got back quite late from the dinner, so we didn't stay up that long afterwards. Went to bed (depressingly, in Jamie's parents house we have to sleep in different rooms), and didnt sleep all that well, as the bed isnt exactly comfy.

Sunday:

Sunday was kinda rubbish, as we were unable to escape from Jamie's parents straight away. Jamie asked them to make lunch for sort of half 12, 1pm so we'd be able to get away early enough to avoid driving for too long in the dark (particularly considering the weather was awful yesterday). However, in a cunning ploy to force us to stay for longer (as his mum is convinced that he hates being there and never comes to visit, so is determined to make his visits last as long as she can), lunch wasnt ready until 2! With the end result that Jamie (who had been without cigarettes since 5pm the previous evening) got very stressed, and then when his mum had a go at him about taking his own books away from the house, he snapped, and had a go at her, and they had a massive argument. Which kind of spoiled the day. Made things very awkward for me too, as I was stuck in the middle desperately trying to be polite; terrified of saying anything that would then make her hate me!

We got away as quickly as we could after that, but Jamie was then in a very bad mood and it took a lot of energy and effort that I didn't really have to get him happy and smiling again. The drive didn't help, as it was incredibly wet and horrible, and on several occasions there were idiots driving around us that made us very nervous.

Got home at about half six, which meant although we were extremely tired we couldnt go to bed yet, so we kept ourselves awake watching Stade Francais vs Sale, and WWE Smackdown, and the results show for Strictly Come Dancing.

Fidget was excessively cuddly with me last night, I think he missed us! Although I didn't sleep a wink last night, even though I was exhausted.

Work Christmas dinner tonight, so its going to be yet another long tiring day, and another big, heavy meal! Really need to get exercising otherwise I'm going to put on a whole heap of weight over Christmas! Jamie's mum has given us a strange exercise machine, and we've got a rowing machine on its way to us in the post, so with any luck I'll be able to sort something out!

Oooh - has Jamie tried toast with marmite and scrambled eggs? Mmm... :-)

And sympathy on the nasty driving too - I drove inside the M25 for the first time this weekend, and would have had a nervous breakdown if I hadn't had Caro with me to read maps!
