1999-2001
2. What were your three favourite bands?
Stereophonics, Manic Street Preachers and Catatonia
3. What was your favourite outfit?
We had uniform in sixth form, so it was all black skirts and white tops. There was a disturbing trend for very short skirts in my uniform, now I think about it I’m not sure that was a good thing. Outside of school I lived in tight fitting stretch denim flared jeans and a variety of band tshirts (of the aforementioned bands)
4. What was up with your hair?
Shorter in the summer (chin length bobs), long in the winter like it is now. Colour started as natural, gained dark red lowlights, which became all-over colour, and I had blonde highlights done once.
5. Who were your best friends?
Gareth (friend-became-boyfriend), Cath, Amy, Carol, Jess and Chris. We had a tight-knit group dynamic thing going on.
6. What did you do after school?
Chilled out at friends houses (usually Cath’s or Ga’s) or they came to mine. Watched TV. Played the piano. It wasn’t particularly exiting. In the 2nd year we spent more time going to pubs and stuff.
7. Did you take the bus?
No I walked. Down a very steep hill and then up a very steep hill. I’m sure it was supposed to do me good. If the weather was particularly bad my mother would drive me there.
8. Who did you have a crush on?
Gareth, although it took me a while to realise. Tim, my geology teacher (bright coloured shirts, garish ties, stupid little moustache, great vintage cars).
9. Did you fight with your parents?
Not really, I’ve always got on with them.
10. Who did you have a CELEBRITY crush on?
Nicky from the Manics, Kelly Jones from Stereophonics. Possibly a few others but I cant be expected to remember such pointless things.
11. Did you smoke cigarettes?
Nope.
12. Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack all day because you were too nervous to find your locker?
I had a small bag which I still use today, which I tended to keep with me most of the time as we didn’t have lockers.
13. Did you have a 'clique'?
Very much so. My sixth form was incredibly cliquey. We were the ‘odd’ ones who didn’t fit in anywhere else.
14. Did you have "The Max" like Zach, Kelly and Slater?
?????
15. Admit it, were you popular?
Within my friendship circle less. The rest of the year respected me for my achievements, and didn’t hate me or treat me in a bad way, they were civil (most of the time). We only disagreed because they bullied my best friend a lot.
16. Who did you want to be just like?
I’ve always been happy being me.
17. What did you want to be when you grew up?
A teacher. Or a palaeontologist. Or a geologist, until I realised rocks were very boring and engineering was no fun.
18. Where did you think you'd be at the age you are now?
I guess I just thought “graduate from uni, get a job”. I certainly didn’t think I’d be engaged and settling down so fast. And the LRP obsession didn’t really figure in my thoughts much. That came as a surprise!
