easter weekend shenannigans
well, I can't be bothered with a huge essay, so I shall post an outline, and if anything sparks an interest I can elaborate for you.
Good Friday:
After all the fuss over finding the blydi cat, we finally got on the road and drove to Wales, which was marred only by too much sun (we both burned slightly on our faces) and a little too much traffic in places (there'd been an accident earlier on in the day near Cardiff, so we were stuck in queues for a bit). Caravans should be banned. Especially when being driven by foreigners in a left hand drive van.
Were planning on stopping in the pub near Jamie's parents to have dinner before the rugby, but between the cat and the traffic we were late, so ended up having to have a Burger King at the services on the M4 just before our junction. Which wasn't very nice. And we were surrounded by fat people. Seriously, everyone in the service station (kids and all) were fat. Combined with the food we were having to eat, it wasn't a nice experience.
Eventually got to Llanelli, parked up outside Stradey Park and went in to enjoy the festive atmosphere before the game. It was lovely and sunny, and we had enough time to get a beer and marvel at the no-smoking pub, and buy some Scarlets tat in the shop, before finding our seats in the stand. Of the game itself I will say very little in detail, as we (currently showing as one of the 4 best teams in Europe) were playing the Border Reivers (who are being scrapped at the end of the season by the Scottish Rugby Union for being rubbish and a waste of money), so we weren't expecting great things. Scarlets won (yay) by 53 points to 11. We scored 9 tries, and it was glorious. I also managed to get a very good view of Stephen Jones' bum as he lined up directly in front of us to take two of his goal kicks. Rugby players have good bums!
After game, drove to Jamie's parents' house and made polite conversation till bedtime. We did sneak off to the pub for a drink, and it was very strange to sit and spend time in a 100% completely-illegal-to-smoke-inside pub. It smelt lovely. I mean I know the BoB is no smoking here and its nice, but the fact that it was illegal was weird. Big notices up everywhere saying "it is illegal to smoke on these premesis".
Saturday:
Original plan for Saturday was 1. Get up 2. Visit Plantasia 3. Cook Jamie's parents a yummy lasagne 4. Go to Ospreys game 5. Go to the pub.
Plan as it worked out was 1. Get up 2. Visit Plantasia (which was cool, except it was too early for butterflies, so there were no butterflies, only chrysalises). 3. Get taken to pub for lunch by Jamie's parents. 4. Go to Ospreys game (which included going to another pub) 5. eating yummy curry and staying in till bedtime.
Ospreys were playing Munster, was meant to be a great game, but Munster fielded a second string team and the ref was atrocious, so it was boring as hell for lots of it. So we just drank beer :-)
We did go for a nice walk down the river though, Jamie and me. I took some pics, will post them when I remember.
Easter Sunday:
Original plan read 1. Get up 2. Leave as soon as is polite.
New plan went 1. Get up 2. spend nice time at waterfall/river where we went when Daddy was having his operation back in May last year. (again pics to follow - there was an old car dumped in the river and it was all upsidedown and rusting away into the river and stuff - was very cool). 3. make yummy lasagne 4. go home.
Which worked out rather well in the end. I drove rather quickly on the way home, so it took hardly any time at all as well, and we were able to enjoy our evening too. Mr Fidget was all happy to see us, which was nice, and he hasn't sulked at all about being left on his own for days and days.
Easter Monday:
was mostly studying, and housework, and eating of chocolate eggs.
back to work, started learning my new job from Chrissy, which consisted of her showing me how to do it and then leaving me to do it all day (training isn't organised especially well in my office, I've always come second to the current important project. last time it was the project working out how much money we'd have to pay in order to de-merge from the group, now its year end). they haven't found a replacement for me yet, though they have started interviewing. Which means I have to do my new job, and my old job as well. which is tricky, as they're both very time consuming. was helped out today by the printer being broken, which made it impossible to do one of my jobs, which meant I could focus on my new job. yay.
Am running out of free time, its rubbish. so much studying to do, my brain is already near dead when I leave work cos of all the new job i'm having to learn, then study for hours leaves me completely brain dead for rest of evening.
Also not helped by the fact that Jamie quit smoking yesterday, so although he's wearing nicotine patches, he's still suffering withdrawal symptoms and his mood is fluctuating wildly, and he constantly needs distracting from his cravings. which means we spent some time playing Jenga this evening, which was fun.
oh, and I have tomato plants. which is cool, even though I don't like tomatoes. think we'll make soup out of them, or use them in bolognases and lasagnes. or something. or Jamie will just eat them. or I'll give them away to anyone who visits me, like my Gaga used to do back when he grew veg.
I'm rambling now. So I shall stop, and say goodnight one and all, for it is late (by my standards) and I need to sleep or else my brain may explode tomorrow.
